Transformational Leadership

For more than 70 years, the Coro Fellows Program has developed emerging civic leaders to work effectively across sectors, catalyze systems, and accelerate positive change.

The Coro Fellows Program at UMSL is an intensive, nine-month, full-time, post-graduate experience for professionals who seek to develop effective leadership skills and engage in civic activities.

What you’ll experience…

During the Fellowship, you’ll use the community as a classroom—through placements, seminars, issue studies, and informational interviews with key community leaders. Through these learning experiences, you’ll gain broad exposure to the St. Louis region and develop skills to make more effective decisions as future civic leaders. During the Fellowship, you’ll learn how systems influence how the St. Louis region functions, as well as how an individual’s personal values, biases, and approach to working with others can shape the outcomes they achieve.

Field Placements

Placements allow Fellows to gain hands-on experience with a variety of sectors and offer participants the opportunity to build robust professional networks. Each Fellow completes a minimum of five placements and is responsible for delivering projects for each organization at which they work.

Informational Interviews

Information Interviews provide access to a cross-section of city leaders, helping Fellows gain insight and diverse perspectives on leadership challenges. These closed-door, intimate sessions provide an opportunity to explore the motivation, method and logic of the individuals shaping our region’s future.
